If you had told me a month ago that I’d be comfortably navigating a Linux desktop, I would have laughed. I used to think this world was reserved for elite hackers, but jumping into Debian, Linux Mint, and Ubuntu has been a total digital awakening! It isn’t just about changing an operating system; it’s the thrill of finally feeling like I actually own my computer.
The sense of discovery is everywhere. I started with Linux Mint, expecting a struggle, but found a desktop that was faster and more intuitive than anything I’d used before. Moving between the rock-solid stability of Debian and the sleek, modern feel of Ubuntu has been a blast. Every day brings a new “Aha!” moment—like realizing I can update every single piece of software at once, or discovering that I don’t have to put up with forced restarts and “bloatware” anymore. It’s pure freedom.
To really get under the hood, I’ve embarked on the Linux Foundation’s “Introduction to Linux” (LFS101x) course on edX. I’m currently on Chapter 9, and it has been a game-changer. It’s helping me connect the dots on how the system actually works and the philosophy behind why it’s built this way.
Understanding the “why” behind the “how” has made the experience even more rewarding. Linux isn’t a hurdle to clear—it’s a playground to explore. It’s much easier than I thought, and honestly, way more fun than I ever imagined!
